Rev. Cary Bani
Pastor

Fr. Cary is a native of Baton Rouge. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and is a graduate of Catholic High School. He is also a graduate of Louisiana State University, earning both a B.S. in Computer Science as well as a Master of Business Administration. After working for a short time in the computer industry and completing his pre-medical studies, he entered the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, graduating with an M.D. degree.

Following the completion of a residency/fellowship in Diagnostic Radiology, he practiced general radiology at Ochsner Clinic of Baton Rouge. During his practice of medicine, he began to discern a call to the priesthood, and later entered Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree. After a couple of Associate Pastor assignments, he was called to serve as Pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Our Lady of Perpetual Help.  While there, he also served for a time as the Catholic chaplain at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola.

Following 12 years of service in the Felicianas, he’s now been assigned to serve as Pastor/Rector of St. Joseph Cathedral (the same parish which had sponsored him as a seminarian for the priesthood).  As such, this represents a bit of a “homecoming” for him, and he looks forward to his ministry at the Cathedral.
