Children's Religious Education

Parents of Catholic children attending public schools in grades 1 through 11 are asked to register them in a Parish School of Religion (PSR). Here at the Cathedral, due to our small number of students, we offer our parishioners two options:

  1. Home-based Program: wherein most of the lesson work is done at home by parents and their children. Our coordinator meets with parents and students approximately five times per year to give guidance.
  2. Neighboring Parish Program: wherein parents have the opportunity to register their child(ren) in a neighboring parish such as Sacred Heart of Jesus or St. Aloysius. If you choose this option you need to contact the Cathedral parish Office so that we may send a letter of permission for your child(ren) to attend the program of that particular parish. Please remember - you and your family remain parishioners of the Cathedral Parish and your child(ren) will continue to prepare for and receive the sacraments here in the Cathedral.

So, what do you need to do next? Make your choice and contact the Cathedral Parish Office either way so that we may send you the proper forms to complete or obtain a permission letter if attending in another parish. The deadline to register for our home-schooled program is September 1 each year so that sufficient books can be ordered. The cost is $25 per child with a maximum of $40 per family.
