On Wednesday, May 3, at 7:30 pm, Mr. Simon Johnson, the Organist and Assistant Music Director at St. Paul’s (Anglican) Cathedral in London, England, will be performing an Organ Concert on our bicentennial gallery organ, “Providence.” Since his appointment in 2008, he has played both daily services and historical national services and events, including the National Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as well as the National Service of Thanksgiving to make the 90th Birthday of The Queen, both events with world-wide television coverage. Schooled at the University of East Anglia and the Royal College of Organists, he has held numerous musical career positions and also had an extensive European recital career. He has even performed as organist on the Oscar and Grammy-winning soundtrack of the Hollywood movie Grand Budapest Hotel.
For Simon, music is a family affair, as his wife, Laura, is an organ builder with Harrison & Harrison, and his brother is a Director of Music at Eton College.
